Boy Doll

I first saw Emily on Martha Stewart's web-site give a tutorial on her girls dolls...I thought they were the cutest thing to make for friends, family, grandchildren and especially my humanitarian projects. She did not have a boy pattern so I came up with one that could make any little boy happy.  I rushed to put this together so my daughter Katlin could take this to my grandson the next morning. (call it a work in progress.)

Poor Little Suzy..

I found this recently in Family Fun Magazine..I love it!

The Demon seamstress is back at it..

I think it is because I feel a change in the weather or maybe because kids have started back to school. Maybe it is because my pumpkin patch is filling up with ripening BIG boy pumpkins..but the Halloween Demon in me is brewing up some fun projects.Scary things are happening in my dungeon!

Dallas Does Disney

Is it wrong for me to say; "Dallas Does Disney?"

Maybe you are too young to remember the questionable movie:
 "Debbie Does Dallas"

Well, Dallas did her kidcaster thing this past Saturday at a mall in Salt Lake.
She was there to commentate a Back to School Fashion Show with the Disney Dancers.
This event was sponsored by MACYS and The Dairy Association (GOT MILK?)
She was paid by wearing the outfit she picked out to wear that day.

  Thanks Disney Radio!!

book group-featured

Book groups are fun and challenging.. (for me, reading a book.. along with all the other activities and extra-circular activities, family life, church responsibilities, and slew of mundane chores of life during the month provides the challenge). My sister started a book group about 10 years ago and it is still going strong. Our  group was filmed and my sister was asked to explain and show, "How to form a book group" by expert village

Take a peek at this video, My sister Jeana is very good in this presentation, she is of course a book worm and is very well read. She will and can tell you the current "must" reads, I believe she reads concurrently 3 books at a time! Thanks sis, for inviting me into your book group!

I Need One More Pop-up Book

I know exactly when it was that I became a pop-up book Fanatic...(I mean collector). It was a Christmas long ago in a Barnes & Noble shopping frenzy.
I needed to buy a gift for my mother, a gift that would make her say..WOW. A gift that would impress her and excite her...it was....."The Twelve days of Christmas" by Robert Sabuda.

This was my first introduction to a great artist and paper engineer!
since then, and bye the way, I bought myself the book, and many more...!

I became a Robert Sabuda "groupie". I may have a complete collection of His work.

His new book which he has co-created with Matthew Reinhart is: Fairies and Magical Creatures. The book is once again so fun and educational. It is classified as an Encyclopedia Mythologica!

Ahh..a midsummer night..

Summer in Utah is the BEST..the temperature at night is around 75 degrees and you feel as though you could stay out all night.   One of my memories of Utah as a young girl was the "big event" to head up Provo Canyon to the Sundance Resort out door theatre.  There, up high in the cool mountains you could see entertainment from a Review to West Side Story.  Years ago Sundance decided to end their summer stock theatre.  But this year they brought it back... and so began a restart on the memory train. I was excited to bring my blanket and enjoy the mountain air and the night sky of flashing diamonds. It was my summer nights dream!

Just When You Think....

I bought my Utah home in 2006.  It is a home that was built in 1994 or there about. It's a  "Park City" style home, (that is what the local neighbors say). It is a sided home with quaint Victorian style ginger bready features.

To get on with this story....my husband and I are "do-it-yourselfers"
we love a project.  We wanted to do a few changes in the
home and one of the first was re-modeling the staircase.  When you enter my home the first thing you see is the staircase.  This one originally had carpet on the steps
and was built with an all oak wood banisters.

My husband is a very talented builder(it's just a hobby) he had already built from scratch our staircase in California. (it took him 8 weeks!) so he felt very comfortable with this small scale change and so he began...he laid solid oak
 steps and kick boards.

We lived like this for 21 mos. (my
husband has a very busy job) but at last after a bit of coaxing to get it done..Voila! Our new improved staircase!
