"Lefty" living in a "Righty" World..

For the majority of you Right Hander's...I don't think you ever think about Left-Handed people! I'm saying that everything is just RIGHT for you.. you have the world functioning on the "Right Side!"
Let me give you an example:
I took the Ladies Ski Clinic up at Sundance Resort this past season and really learned a lot and sharpened my confidence and skiing skills. On the last day, Sundance rewarded us with a yummy lunch in the "Tree Room"(their four star restaurant) they gave us all nice skier signature mug. How thoughtful....for those that were Right-Handed it was a lovely gift but for those of us Lefties (I think there were three us)... well, see for yourself what we look at while drinking our mug of hot chocolate!  Can you guess which one the Left Handers drinks from?  Clue: The one on top!

Memorial Day 2008

It started out to be a typical Monday and then after cleaning my kitchen, ironing 5 shirts for my hubby, and getting him to the airport to fly to Dallas, I got to go party with Little River Band! I got to relive the 70's and 80's.  "Happy Anniversary" "He's a Loser But He Just Keeps on Trying"

Men in Black Suits

No..keep looking...look closer...are your eyes playing tricks on you?
Who are these guys? I'll give you a guess....they could be presidential candidates...
McCain & Clinton? ...NOT..they sure look stiff...!

Making someone a nice warm blanket..

Yesterday I spent most of my day in my dungeon(sewing room in the basement)putting together baby blankets for LDS humanitarian center.  I get the material and the quilt batting donated and sew up a blanket, then our group of women tie the quilts with yarn. Sometimes they are just cute and that (depends on the material of course..) then some are not so cute.
I just imagine that some new mother, somewhere in the world, who does not have much, will get this blanket for their newborn to wrap up with.

What I Do To a Wool Sweater

Moving to Utah provided a new creative outlet for me. Since living in So Calif. most of my life, I did not cross paths with too many wool sweaters! Then my sister(who is right handed)introduced me to Thrift Store shopping. The racks were filled with wool sweaters galore! so with a few $$ spent, Volia! My creations...

This is the way I start my day

This morning as I was making one of my specialty smoothies, this one had frozen mixed berries, strawberries, vanilla yogurt, and orange juice. I was sitting down to enjoy it when it happened..BRAIN FREEZE!!  I quickly knew what to do...sprinkel a small amount of black pepper on top of smoothy and Volia! NO more brain freeze!  I heard this tip from Diane Sawyer on GMA.

Last Thursday, my daughter Ariel, who works up at Sundance Resort asked if I wanted to participate in their Earth Fair. This really meant that I would be picking up trash along the Sundance canyon road with a bright red vest and blue latex gloves. I wished I had taken my camera.  My daughter and I were a team. We cleaned along the unprotected side of the road..Yikes.. we didn't uncover any "treasures" but we decided that we really disliked people that smoked, those that drank beer and red bull from a can. We came to the assumption that it must be the snow boarders that are litter bugs.

Wall Hangings for Orphanages

This fabric wall hanging will go to an orphanage somewhere in the world.
Children need color in their lives.

Changing The World-One small step at a time…..

Two years ago I moved out of the "bubble" of Orange County, (the OC) California to a city (Provo, Utah) that seemed to have some poverty challenges. I soon became aware that I could do my part to make a difference. Maybe it was just my time in life to really look around at the world and be a part of it.
Here's how I got started:
1. think of your talents and experiences that make you, who you are.
2. Start small...do the research of possible charities, clubs, organizations, community and world-wide projects that interest you, the internet is awesome for locating ideas.
3. Decide who, what where will benefit from your talents.
4. Make a call or visit the organization to get more details of how you can contribute.
5. Set aside time each week or month to be actively involved.
6. Reap the satisfaction of seeing a project from start to finish and you will be amazed at how great you feel and how those that you have helped will be touched by your efforts.

Spoiled Girl Gets Horse

How lucky can one girl be, to have a dream come true. Dallas(now that's a cowgirl name if ever I've heard one.) leads a very charmed life along with her dad's participation. They recently adopted Chance, a palomino-quarter horse/farm stock. He is about 5 years old. What a really great riding horse. Yee Hah!

You can make these in 30 minutes!

I think this is a great site for quilters. I especially liked sewing these fabric lunch bags for my
"working", "schooling" daughters.

Somethings Never Change

"Larry the Lion" abt. 1962 by Mattel Toys. I got this lion on Christmas day, I was around five years old. I remember being so happy that I cried the morning when I unwrapped him.

Mothers Day 2008

Once again it's that time of the year to remember our moms. I think a lot about my wonderful nurturing mom. She passed away in June of 2006. I miss her. I still cry for her. I want to be around her and talk with her. I have beautiful daughters whom are very talented, loving, giving women. I seem to reap the benefits of these girls on Mothers Day.
